Since 1941... This FARM Has been Family Land
The Neily Family has owned this land for three generations. We welcome you to experience a morning sunrise with the goats, take a stroll along the rolling landscapes or sit on the beautiful creek-side beach. Here you are close to nature, and town at the same time-- we think it's the perfect balance.
Original Farmhouse and Barn is still in my family. My aunt lives there now.
Then, in 2020 the story shifted when two old High School Friends re-connected ...Our first project was building Mossy Spring Beach. And a vision was sparked...
We both grew up in Blacksburg and in this Valley.
So in 2024, we decided to make our love for the land a passion project--and Big Cedars Farm was born.
We hope you enjoy your time here as much as we enjoy building the dreams...
My Grandfather bought the land in 1941. He lived in the house and managed the farm. I grew up here... playing in the creek and pretending it was an ocean.
I purchased the upper track from him and began creating my own version of country living....

The Wandering Goat Lodge opened in 2017 and as popularity grew, welcoming guests quickly became a full-time job. Our goal is to consistently enhance the guest experience, so each time you stay with us, watch changes and improvements.
Part of our vision is to create a cool vibe and boho ambiance on the property with "found objects." We love to re-purpose antiques and salvaged materials we rescue. It's how we built the privy & kitchen for the Roam Inn.
Mossy Spring Beach started as a childhood vision. Now it's a camping spot-- and a community meeting spot for yoga and parties.
Seasonal Wreath Making Classes are a great way to bring the girls together.
